A word before we begin

These are the terms that apply when you book a stay at Camp Kimanganu Safari Lodge in Moshi, Tanzania. We have written them to be clear and fair to both sides. If anything is unclear, please just ask us before you book.

About us

Camp Kimanganu Safari Lodge is located in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. We are a mid-range lodge serving international travelers, Kilimanjaro climbers, and safari visitors.

Making a booking

A booking is confirmed when two things happen: you have sent us your booking request with your arrival date, departure date, room type, and number of guests, and we have received your deposit payment and sent you a written confirmation by email or WhatsApp.

Until both of those steps are complete, your dates are not reserved. We recommend completing your deposit promptly, especially during peak season from June to October and December to January.

Deposit and payment

We require a deposit of 30% of your total booking cost at the time of reservation. The remaining 70% is due on arrival at the lodge.

We accept the following payment methods:

• Cash (Tanzanian Shillings or US Dollars)
• Bank transfer
• Mobile money (M-Pesa)
• Card payment

For bank transfers, payment must clear before your arrival date. Please send us a copy of your transfer confirmation so we can match it to your booking.

Cancellation policy

We understand that travel plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to you while also protecting the small team that depends on each booking.

If you cancel 14 or more days before arrival

You will receive a full refund of your deposit. No questions asked. We are grateful you let us know early enough to rebook the room.

If you cancel between 7 and 13 days before arrival

You will receive a 50% refund of your deposit. We will have held your room and turned away other guests during this period, so a partial charge is necessary.

If you cancel less than 7 days before arrival

Unfortunately we are not able to offer a refund in this case. The room will have been reserved for you and it is unlikely we can fill it at short notice. The full deposit is retained.

If you need to change your dates

If you need to move your dates rather than cancel entirely, please contact us as early as possible. We will always do our best to accommodate a date change, subject to availability, without charging a fee.

If we need to cancel your booking

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your reservation due to circumstances beyond our control, we will inform you as soon as possible and refund your deposit in full. We will also do our best to help you find alternative accommodation in Moshi.

Check in and check out

Check in is from 2:00 PM. Check out is by 11:00 AM.

If you are arriving late due to a flight or travel delay, please let us know in advance so we can make sure someone is there to receive you. We are happy to accommodate late arrivals when we know about them.

If you need an early check in or late check out, please ask us at the time of booking. We will do our best to arrange it subject to availability. Early check in and late check out may carry a small additional charge.

Airport transfers

We can arrange private airport transfers to and from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) on request. Please let us know your flight details at least 48 hours before arrival so we can confirm the arrangement. Transfer costs are not included in your room rate and will be quoted separately.

Luggage storage

If you are climbing Kilimanjaro and need to store luggage at the lodge while you are on the mountain, we are happy to keep it securely for you. Please inform us in advance so we can arrange this. Luggage is stored at your own risk, and we recommend not leaving valuables.

Behaviour and conduct

Camp Kimanganu is a peaceful environment shared by all our guests. We ask everyone to be respectful of other guests and of the lodge setting. We reserve the right to ask a guest to leave without a refund if their behaviour is causing distress to other guests or to our staff.

Quiet hours are between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

Damage to the property

Guests are responsible for any damage they cause to the lodge, its rooms, or its contents during their stay. Where damage is caused, the cost of repair or replacement will be charged to the guest. We will always communicate clearly about any such charge before applying it.

Pets

We do not currently accept pets at Camp Kimanganu. If you have a specific situation, please contact us before booking and we will let you know if an arrangement is possible.

Liability

Camp Kimanganu Safari Lodge takes reasonable care to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests. However, we are not liable for loss, theft, injury, or damage that occurs as a result of a guest’s own actions, or circumstances beyond our control such as weather, power outages, or events of force majeure.

We strongly recommend that all international guests travel with comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and evacuation. This is especially important for guests planning to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

Third party services

If we connect you with a Kilimanjaro trekking operator, safari company, or any other third party service provider, we do so as a helpful introduction only. We are not responsible for the services, conduct, or pricing of any third party. Any arrangement you make with a third party is between you and them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us directly will be handled in accordance with Tanzanian law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the updated date. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in place at the time your booking was confirmed.
